Dal Med Holiday Gift Drive

February 18, 2011

Once more we were blown away with the generousity that the Dalhousie Med students have shown our Boys and Girls Club. It is amazing how quickly the students are able to organize the gift drive and as well as pick out such thoughtful gifts for the children. Wrapped in a variety of different papers and bows, you can tell that each gift was picked with a lot of consideration. The children were very excited to open their presents at the Christmas Show and share them with each other. The parents were also so thankful. The Christmas Show is the one event at the Club that brings together our children, parents, volunteers and staff to celebrate. For many of our families they live with everyday stresses of work, preparing meals, supporting their children through school, and friends. The Club plays an important role in providing after school care for the children while their parents work to support their family. Often parents are too busy to stop and talk about their child's day or get to know the staff. The Christmas Show is a time to relax, watch the children perform and enjoy something to eat. The Dalhousie gifts drive adds that additional excitement and reminds us to be thankful and know that there are people in our communities who care and are there to help. We are incredibly grateful that the Dalhousie Med Students have chosen our Club to share this message.
