Geriatric Interest Group Skills Night was a great success!
April 12, 2011
GIG Skills Night, March 9, 2011:
The Dalhousie Geriatric Interest Group (GIG) held it's very first event on March 9, 2011. It was a 2hr Skills Night, hosted by the Geriatrics Department and held in the Geriatrics Day Hospital (VMB). Dr. Janet Gordon, Geriatrics Dept, organized the skills stations and recruited Geriatricians, Fellows, Nurses, Physioptherapists and a simulated patient to help. We also offered free, healthy food to everyone there, as well as Thank You gift cards to all the faculty who participated (all funded by the DMSS!). There were 4 stations (neurological exam, cognitive testing, polypharmacy, and transfers), taught by a Geriatrician, Geriatrics Fellow or Physiotherapist. It was a very successful first event, and we look forward to organizing more in the near future!
