Student Research & Funding
Medical students at Dalhousie are known for producing excellent clinical and basic science research. Highlights of our research program include the availability of summer research grants for students in first and second year and the opportunity to conduct research during their electives throughout their medical education. Funding and statistical support are also available for non-RIM (Research in Medicine) projects (see below). Dalhousie medicine provides students with the critical analysis and research skills to be successful and productive physician scientists and evidence based practitioners.
Project Funding
Student Innovation and Research Award (SIRA)
The SIRA was developed to help reduce out-of-pocket costs for non-RIM related research and to recognize some of the incredible projects our medical students are working on. This funding is meant to be accessible and flexible for various types of research projects, so please read through the information document and application carefully (see below).

If you have any questions, please contact Brett Ells, Chair of the SIRA Committee at Brett.Ells@dal.ca
For RIM-related research funding and support, contact the RIM Office at rim@dal.ca

Additional Research Support
Are you working on non-RIM related research with no help for data analysis?
If your project is ready for data analysis, fill out this form (below) to see if you are able to partner with an Honours student from the Dalhousie Division of Statistics.
The role of this Honours student would be to tackle the data analysis portion of your project with guidance from a supervisor (expert in statistical analysis). These students typically must complete their work by the end of the regular academic calendar.
You would be expected to coordinate with them to set expectations at the beginning such as:
